Intermediate Aluminophosphates as a Tool of Control over the Morphology and Secondary Porous Structure of AlPO4-11

Abstract

The paper investigates the effects of the aging of an initial aluminophosphate gel on the formation of intermediate phases and their subsequent crystallization into an AlPO4-11 molecular sieve. It was demonstrated that intermediate aluminophosphates can be deliberately formed either as amorphous or layered phases by varying, from 20 to 140°C, the holding temperature of the aluminophosphate gel with the following composition: 1.0Al2O3·1.0P2O5·1.0DPA·50H2O. The choice of the intermediate aluminophosphate was shown to be a factor of control over the AlPO4-11 morphology and over the characteristics of the secondary porous structure. The paper further suggests the mechanism of AlPO4-11 formation depending on the intermediate phase nature.
