6,7-Dialcoxy-Benzothiophene Derivatives as the Basis for Synthesis of Fluorescent Sensors for Reactive Oxygen Species

Abstract We suggest the use of the 6,7-dialcoxy-benzothiophene derivatives as the basis for synthesis of fluorescent sensors for reactive oxygen species. The corresponding dioxide, a potential product of oxidation, that might be generated during ROS detection, was synthesized. We have established that benzothiophene derivatives could be successfully used for synthesis of fluorescent sensors, due to the noticeable shift of the absorption and emission maxima that occurs during oxidation.
