1. Shape-memory and self-healing functions of DNA-based carboxymethyl cellulose hydrogels driven by chemical or light trigger

Scientists from China and Israel have developed responsive DNA-based carboxymethyl cellulose hydrogels, with shape-memory and self-healing properties. One of the hydrogels is cross-linked with trans-azobenzene/β-cyclodextrin supramolecular complexes. Photoisomerisation of trans-azobenzene to the cis-isomer results in lower stiffness due to the reversible separation of the azobenzene and cyclodextrin linkers. The second hydrogel is additionally crosslinked with K+-stabilised G-quadruplex bridging units, giving it dual-trigger responsiveness to either light or 18-crown-6-ether.


华东理工大学与以色列的研究人员们开发了刺激响应性的基于DNA的羧甲基纤维素水凝胶,这种水凝胶具有形状记忆和自愈合特性。其中一种水凝胶与反式偶氮苯/β-环糊精超分子复合物交联。反式偶氮苯的光致异构化会形成顺式异构体,造成偶氮苯和环糊精之间连接的可逆分离,导致刚性降低。第二种水凝胶还与钾离子( K+)稳定的G-四链体桥接单元进行交联,使其对于光或18-冠-6-醚都具有响应性。

2. Hierarchical tandem assembly of planar [3×3] building units into {3×[3×3]} oligomers: mixed-valency, electrical conductivity and magnetism

Scientists have reported a hierarchical assembly of 3x[3x3] oligomers, which display electrical conductivity and magnetism, through a solvothermal reaction between 5,5′-pyridyl-3,3′-bi-1H-pyrazole and CuSO4•5H2O in CH3OH–CH3CN. The initial coordination gives a planar [3×3] Cu9 grid, and this is followed by oligomerisation to a 3×[3×3] Cu27 grid. The crystals have good electrical conductivity due to their mixed valency.


南京大学研究人员们报道了一种具有导电性和磁性的3x[3x3]低聚物的分级组装体,通过5,5'-吡啶基-3,3'-联-1H-吡唑与CuSO4•5H2O 在甲醇-乙腈中发生溶剂热反应合成。最初通过配位形成了一种[3×3]的Cu9 平面晶格,随后通过低聚反应形成了3×[3×3] Cu27 晶格。该晶体因为具有混合价,具有良好的导电性。

1. Improved pharmaceutical research and development with AIE-based nanostructures

Xing-Jie Liang and coworkers from NCNST and University of Chinese Academy of Sciences highlight the latest advances in the application of Aggregation Induced Emission (AIE)-based nanostructures in pharmaceutical research and development. As prominent fluorescence agents for real-time and dynamic monitoring, AIE-based nanostructures can facilitate drug-screening processes, provide detailed guidance for formulation optimization, and assist in exploring pharmacological mechanisms. They review different roles of AIE-based nanostructures in enhanced pharmaceutical treatment, such as chemoprevention, gene therapy, radiotherapy and photodynamic therapy.


国家纳米科学中心和中国科学院大学的研究人员总结了近期基于聚集诱导发光(AIE)的纳米结构应用于药物研发的最新进展。基于AIE的纳米结构作为在实时、动态监测中主要使用的荧光剂,可以促进药物筛选过程,为优化配方提供详细指导,并有助于探索药理学机制。作者们回顾了基于AIE的纳米结构在增强药物治疗中所起到的不同作用,如化学预防、基因治疗、放射治疗和光动力治疗。

2. Growth of 2 cm metallic porous TiN single crystals

Kui Xie et al from Fujian Institute of Research on the Structure of Matter, China present a way to grow 2cm metallic porous TiN single crystals. TiN is an excellent conductor, but porous TiN nanoparticles tend to be amorphous or polycrystalline, with lots of grain boundaries and defects. This new work not only affords control over both crystal properties and pore size through synthetic modification, but it also proves to be generic: opening up the possibility of designing large-size porous crystals using a wealth of other materials.


中科院福建物构所的研究人员报道了一种2厘米金属多孔TiN单晶的生长方法。TiN是一种优秀的导体,但多孔TiN纳米颗粒往往是非晶或多晶的,具有大量的晶界和缺陷。这项新工作不仅可以通过合成改性来控制晶体性质和孔径,而且还证明该方法的通用性:提供了使用大量其它材料来设计大尺寸多孔晶体的可能性。

3. A class of Pb-free double perovskite halide semiconductors with intrinsic ferromagnetism, large spin splitting and high Curie temperature

Spintronics requires the creation of a ferromagnetic semiconductor that can work at room temperature. Here, Haibo Zheng and coworkers from Nanjing University of Science and Technology and the University of Science and Technology of China introduce perovskite halides into the spintronics field. They present a series of intrinsic ferromagnetic semiconductors, namely double perovskite halides with a stable crystalline structure at room temperature. Furthermore, the ferromagnetic compounds are semiconductors with large spin splitting and high Curie temperature, which is crucial for extending the applications of perovskite halides in spintronics.


自旋电子学要求制造一种可在室温下工作的铁磁半导体。在本文中,来自南京理工大学和中国科技大学的科学家们将钙钛矿卤化物引入自旋电子学领域。他们发展了一系列本征铁磁半导体,即在室温下具有稳定晶体结构的双钙钛矿卤化物。此外,这些铁磁性化合物是具有大自旋分裂和高居里温度的半导体,这对于扩展钙钛矿卤化物在自旋电子学中的应用至关重要。

1. High-performance electrofluorochromic devices based on aromatic polyamides with AIE-active tetraphenylethene and electro-active triphenylamine moieties

Researchers designed 3 triphenylamine (TPA) derivatives and incorporated these into the redox-active polymer tetraphenylethylene (TPE). They showed how the incorporation of the TPA derivatives could decrease the high oxidation potential of TPE, which inhibits efficiently electrochemical switching, and increase the intensity of illumination of TPE. They used their synthesized TPE derivative to make high performance electrofluorochromic devices and found the addition of heptyl viologen (HV) improved the response time and applied voltage.


研究人员们设计了三种三苯胺(TPA)的衍生物,并将其引入到具有氧化还原活性的四苯基乙烯(TPE)聚合物中。他们展示了TPA衍生物的引入如何降低TPE的高氧化电位,从而有效地抑制电化学转换,并增加TPE的发光强度。他们使用合成的TPE衍生物制造高性能的电致荧光变色器件,同时还发现添加庚基紫精(HV)可以改善响应时间和施加电压。

1. Blood prefabricated hydroxyapatite/tricalcium phosphate induces ectopic vascularized bone formation via modulating the osteoimmune environment

Researchers carried out a study into the effects of blood prefabrication with a rat model, where the animals were implanted with a bone graft substitute. They found that blood prefabrication could induce a microenvironment which was beneficial for bone formation and they suggest that blood and blood responses should be considered by researchers when planning future studies. They found that blood prefabrication effected the fibrin networks, which provided a more beneficial environment for MSC recruitment and osteoblast differentiation, it enhanced angiogenesis and promoted osteogenesis over osteoclastogenesis. Thereby improving bone healing overall.


研究人员使用体内植入了骨移植替代物的大鼠模型研究了血液预制的效果。他们发现血液预制可以诱导有利于骨形成的微环境,同时还建议研究人员在规划未来的研究时应考虑到血液和血液响应。他们发现血液预制会影响纤维蛋白网络,这为MSC的募集和成骨细胞分化提供了更有利的环境,它增强了血管生成,促进了骨生成并抑制破骨细胞生成,从而在整体上改善了骨愈合。
