Doping of K and Zn elements in FeZr-Ni/ZSM-5: Highly selective catalyst for syngas to aromatics

Direct synthesis of aromatics from syngas is a split-new research direction of coal-to-chemicals industry over the years. The effects of Zn and K on FeZr catalysts combined with Ni modified zeolite (Ni/HZSM-5) were investigated for the reaction. Modified catalysts exhibited excellent catalytic activity, showing superior selectivity of aromatic products (more than 82% in C5+ hydrocarbons) under stable CO conversion over 90%. The results demonstrated that catalyst structure could be adjusted by controlling Zn content and the acidic properties could be regulated by introducing K as a promoter. Finally, the total aromatic selectivity was conclusively ascended to 39.48%, with a controlled selectivity of CO2 lower than 25%.
