Two [TeMo6O24]6--based metal-organic complexes derived by different N-site ligands: architectures, electrochemical and photocatalytic properties

Abstract Two [TeMo6O24]6−-based metal-organic complexes {Co4(Htyptz-I)2[TeMo6O24](H2O)12}·4H2O (1), {Co3(H2typtz-II)2[TeMo6O24](H2O)8}·6H2O (2) (H2typtz-I = 3-(tetrazol-5-yl)-5-(pyrid-2-yl)-1,2,4-triazole, H2typtz-II = 3-(tetrazol-5-yl)-5-(pyrid-4-yl)-1,2,4-triazole) have been synthesized by the hydrothermal method. Complex 1 shows a 2D polymeric layer based on the μ3-bridging H2typtz-I and the μ4-bridging TeMo6 anions, furthermore the 2D layers are extended into a 3D architecture through the weak hydrogen bonds. When H2typtz-II was used, complex 2 form a different 2D polymeric layer based on the μ2-bridging H2typtz-II and the μ2-bridging TeMo6 anions. It is worth noting that the difference between H2typtz-I and H2typtz-II is only the different N site on pyridine. The photocatalytic properties, electrochemical behaviors and electrocatalytic activities of two [TeMo6O24]6−-based complexes have been investigated in detail.
