Every transplant provider has treated a patient that adheres to Murphy's Law: “Anything that can go wrong will go wrong”. In lung transplant, a chain of adverse events often culminates with chronic lung allograft dysfunction (CLAD) and death. Often, the answer to why this happens to a given patient is elusive, and the best explanation based on available knowledge may be “bad luck”.
