Anticorrosion properties of poly(2-aminothiazole)-coated poly(n-butyl methacrylate) films for carbon steel

Abstract Poly(2-aminothiazole) (PAT) is a relatively new heterocyclic conducting polymer and there are limited literature examples in which PAT was used in anti-corrosion coatings. This paper presents a protocol to coat polymer latex particles with PAT based on chemical oxidative polymerizations of 2-aminothiazole in aqueous media in the presence of film-forming poly(n-butyl methacrylate) (PBMA) latex. The anticorrosion properties of the PAT-coated PBMA films for carbon steel were investigated.
