Abstract An open-framework zinc phosphate has been synthesized in the presence of ethylviologen (EV) dibromide, which exhibits rapid photochromic property responsive to soft X-ray while almost no response to UV light and hard X-ray. It also shows tunable luminescence upon irradiation, and mother liquid recycling can be utilized for the economical synthesis of such compound.
