Bis(Acylhydrazone)-Based Bolaamphiphiles: Effect of Spacer Length on Metalloorganogel Formation, Fluorescence, and Conductance Properties

Even is better? The effect of odd- and even-numbered carbon chain (n=0 to n=6) containing bolaamphiphiles, Li+ and Cd2+ toward metallogelation and their fluorescence and conductance properties have been studied. Step-by-step growth of fibres from nanoballs inside the gel (H2SL, n=2) matrix is shown by using TEM and FESEM techniques. The Nyquist impedance plot showed a lower resistance of the metalloorganogel (R=3.6 kΩ) than the nongelling counterpart (R=5.6 kΩ) owing to ordered arrangement of fibres in the former case.
