Neo-clerodane diterpenoids from Scutellaria barbata and their reversal multidrug resistance activity in HepG2/Adr cells

Bioassay-guided isolation of the aerial part of Scutellaria barbata (Labiatae) yielded six new neo-clerodane diterpenoids scutegxbatines A–F (1-6), together with thirteen known analogues (7-20). Their structures were elucidated on the basis of extensive spectroscopic analyses. Compounds 3, 7, 12, and 15 at 20 μmol/L were able to reverse multi-drug resistance of HepG2/Adr cells to adriamycin (reversal fold: 5.2–20.3).
