Abstract Motivated by the recent work by G. Di. Nicola et al. [Fluid Phase Equilibria 417 (2016) 229], based on the DIPPR data for carboxylic acids, we here report a corresponding state based correlation for the temperature dependent surface tension of carboxylic acids fluids. Underneath the two reduced quantities defined here, the DIPPR data show a unique trend. It is found that the proposed correlation can be used for different subfamilies of the carboxylic acids, and can describe the DIPPR data with high accuracy with the absolute average deviation (AAD) less than 1% for 14 carboxylic acids, AAD
