Molybdenum‐Based Crystal Scintillators: Search for New Molybdenum‐Based Crystal Scintillators for the Neutrino‐Less Double Beta Decay Search Experiment (Crystal Research and Technology 11/2019)

Molybdate content crystals are developed from different phase compositions such as Li2O–MoO3, Cs2MoO4–MoO3, and Na2O–MoO3. From room temperature to 10 K, the luminescence and scintillation properties of the grown crystals are studied under the excitations of a 280 nm light emitting diode and a 90Sr beta source. Among the newly grown crystals, Na2Mo2O7 crystal has the highest luminescence and scintillation light yield. At 10 K, the absolute light yield of Na2Mo2O7 is ≈1350 ph/MeV.
