Cycloartane triterpenoids from the leaves of Euphorbia neriifolia

Three new cycloartane terpenoids, neriifolins A–C (1-3), together with one known compound, 24-methylenecycloartane (4), were isolated from the EtOAc extract of the leaves of Euphorbia neriifolia Linn (Euphorbiaceae). The structures of the new compounds were elucidated based on extensive spectroscopic analyses, particularly 1D and 2D NMR, and HR-ESI-MS. Compounds 1-3 showed cytotoxicity against breast cancer cells MCF-7 with IC50 values of 13.14, 7.12 and 9.50 μM, respectively.
