Allow me to extend my warm greetings for a joyful and prosperous New Year in 2024. I wish to convey my heartfelt appreciation to the esteemed members of the editorial board, dedicated editors, diligent reviewers, invaluable contributors, and avid readers for their unwavering commitment and support of the Journal of the Chinese Chemical Society (JCCS) throughout the past year.

Reflecting on the accomplishments of 2023, I am pleased to report that JCCS achieved a latest impact factor of 1.8, marking a modest increase from the previous year's figure of 1.753, as per the 2022 report. The journal successfully published 7 regular issues and 5 special issues, attracting nearly 460 submissions from 38 countries. With an acceptance rate of 31%, the peer review process engaged 297 reviewers hailing from 23 countries. Geographically, 18% of submissions originated from Taiwan, 40% from various Asian countries, and the remaining from diverse regions.

The 2023 Best Article Award recognizes three teamwork efforts in the development of photoaffinity glycoprobes, heteronuclear metal-string complexes, and triiron-cluster biomimetics (Table 1). In addition to the longstanding Best Article Award, I am delighted to announce the inception of the “Highly Cited Paper Award” for the year, aimed at recognizing outstanding contributions published in JCCS. The 2023 Highly Cited Paper Award will honor works published in 2022, as detailed in Table 2. The authors will be presented with an award certificate from the Journal.
