Amphiphilic hydrogels carrying tuneable hydrophobic domains containing the catalytically active sites were prepared via a simple strategy using a hydrophobic peripherally clickable hyperbranched polymer and hydrophilic PEG-diazides; ligating the Cu-ions to the triazole rings yielded a recyclable hydrogel-supported catalysts for carrying out azide-alkyne click reactions in water.
