Phytochemical investigation of Pittosporum glabratum var. neriifolium EtOH extract led to four aromadendrane sesquiterpenoid glycosides, including one new, pitglabroside A (1), together with eight other kinds of constituents (5-12). Their structures were elucidated by comprehensive spectroscopic analysis, including 1D and 2D NMR, HRESIMS and ECD spectra. Four sesquiterpenoid glycosides (1-4) were evaluated for their inhibitory effects on NO production in LPS-induced BV-2 microglial cells. Compounds 1 and 2 showed significant inhibitory activity, with IC50 values of 6.06 and 4.68 μM, respectively. Furthermore, the structure-activity analysis revealed that the senecioic group played a more important in the anti-inflammatory activity than the angelic moiety.
