It is such an honor to join Robert Spoo, Carol Kealiher, and the JJQ staff in the service of furthering Joyce scholarship. A circle comes to a close, in a way, since Bob was the Editor when I wrote an undergraduate thesis on musical and psychogenic fugue in "Sirens" during the late 1990s, which started my path as a Joycean. The journal, its contributors, and Sean Latham himself were immensely helpful in guiding my dissertation on Joyce's engagement with the new physics in periodicals. So now to be sharing the editorial responsibility with Bob on his second turn is, on a personal level, a very meaningful way to help bring our community forward. We will make a joint statement in the next issue. In the meantime, however, this one features articles on a range of timely topics including race in Joyce's earlier and later works, gnomonology in Dubliners, an appraisal of Molly Bloom's father, and a study of feet in Ulysses, plus a new contribution to the M'Intosh debates and some artwork from Robert Berry. The book reviews showcase new scholarship in the related areas of media, genre, transatlantic relations, and the centenary of the novel that helped to revolutionize them all.
