The density of norbornene ligands on silica nanoparticles alters the activity of a Pt hydrosilylation catalyst. Latency of hydrosilylation at high ligand density occurs despite the non-inhibitory behavior of the free ligand and establishes the non-innocent role of functionalized inorganic supports.
