ABSTRACT

Nowadays, in a society where the rate of mental health issues and imbalances is increasing, dance is acknowledged as a tool for emotional management. This study aimed to carry out a systematic review of the scientific articles published on dance and emotions, to analyse their themes and evolution. This review was carried out by the statistical analysis of textual data and their means, using the MANOVA Biplot to generate a lexical matrix, resulting in 216 articles. This was used to study the evolution between time periods and the topics addressed. In conclusion, it can be stated that there is a lack of scientific research on dance and emotions in Secondary Education, as it depends on the educational curriculum of each country, their laws and teaching protocols. Greater the frequency of performance, greater the improvements in physical fitness, cognitive, social, physical and affective functioning. In addition, dance therapy has positive results on emotional effects in illnesses such as Parkinson’s disease. This is why dance is a fundamental means of helping students work on emotional awareness and management, although it has limited involvement in the educational field.
