Influence of Platinum on Ablation Behavior of Silicone Rubber

The influence of platinum on silicone rubber ablation was studied by muffle furnace,X-ray diffraction (XRD) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). The addition of platinum promoted ceramic formation, causing the silicone compound to burn into a hard ceramic, significantly increasing the residual weight. The XRD showed that the crystallization peak was weakened and the crystal structure was disrupted. The XPS revealed a decrease in the calcium content in the residue.Overall,the addition of platinum allowed the decomposition products of silicone rubber to participate in the ceramic process and form a hard solid.
