This short communication reports on the implementation and validation of the three-phase method for daylight calculations in the freely available software DIALux evo. Compared to the previous approach to daylight calculation in DIALux, the 3-phase method allows for a faster calculation of yearly daylight illuminance without sacrificing accuracy. DIALux is one of the most widespread software among electric lighting designers. By implementing simple, accurate, and fast analysis, this new version of DIALux makes daylight analysis easily available to electric lighting designers. This can unleash the potential of properly integrated daylighting and electric lighting design, for better and more efficient lighting projects.
