Abstract—

The Koklan W–Mo deposit in Transuralia is confined to the eponymous Middle Permian leucogranitic pluton, which intrudes a sequence of the Lower Paleozoic crystalline schists with lenses of ultramafic rocks, marbles, and skarns. The economic stockwork W–Mo mineralization spans both outer and inner contacts of the pluton and is related to greisenization. The economic subdivision of ores is based on host rocks. The ores of granite and schist types (88.7% in total) are dominant in contrast to strongly subordinate ultramafic and skarn types. Molybdenum is mostly contained in molybdenite and, rarely, in scheelite. Tungsten is mainly related to scheelite; wolframite is extremely rare. The Mo and W contents of ores and rocks show no correlation. The major ore minerals are pyrite, molybdenite, and scheelite; subordinate minerals include chalcopyrite, pyrrhotite, and magnetite, and rare minerals are arsenopyrite, gersdorffite, nickeline, pentlandite, tetrahedrite, bornite, galena, native bismuth, bismuthinite, Bi sulfosalts, and uraninite.
