Modeling the Remediation of Aquifers from the Lenses of Petroleum Products

Abstract

An improved algorithm for modeling the dynamics of petroleum product lenses based on the planned filtration equations is presented. The Oilfem 2 program code, which implements the algorithm, is supplemented with a generator of nonorthogonal grids and the ability to create or import geofiltration models; the dependence between the pumping rate of the petroleum product lens and its thickness is taken into account. The improved program code is applied on a test task to eliminate oil contamination, which is a round lens of petroleum products. The solution we obtained is compared to the analytical solution found by the LDRM program. The results have good correspondence between the two solutions for two criteria: the change in the flow rate of pumping oil products and the change in the volume of free oil products over time.
