The illustrated compounds, including natural products 3 and 7, confer neuroprotective effects on, for example, hydrogen-peroxide challenged mouse brain cortical cultures. They likely do so by acting as Michael acceptors and thereby upregulating the Keap1-Nrf2-ARE pathway.
