Experimental study on use of light weight aggregate incorporated in SCC with limecrete

Abstract

So as to conquer the environmental problems raised due to the concrete production and their ingredients production, there has been a want to discover the alternative substances to replace the components together with cement and coarse combination. This study has an interest to investigate the utilisation of lightweight aggregate in M30 grade self-compacting concrete (SCC) containing lime. Initially in SCC, cement was replaced with lime by 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40 and 45% and optimised the replacement based on the mechanical properties. The coarse aggregate was replaced with a light weight steel slag (SS) aggregate at the percentage of 10, 20, 30 and 40% individually in the above optimised replacement of cement with lime. With each mix, to enhance the binding and mechanical properties, a constant percentage (5%) of epoxy resin (EPR) was added as additive. To enhance the workability and to found the optimum dosage, the superplasticiser conplast SP430 was added in distinctive chances of water cement ratio and the workability tests have been completed. And then mechanical properties and durability properties were compared with controlled SCC and their enhancement in properties were discussed.
