Correction to: Activated Protein C Strengthens Cardiac Tolerance to Ischemic Insults in Aging

In the article by Ren et al. ‘Activated Protein C Strengthens Cardiac Tolerance to Ischemic Insults in Aging,” which published in the January 21, 2022 issue of the journal (Circ Res. 2022;130:252–272. doi: 10.1161/CIRCRESAHA.121.319044), the authors have requested a correction.


After concerns were raised in a PubPeer post about potential included duplicate images in figures and supplement uncut blots, the authors were contacted by the editors and asked to provide an explanation and original data and images. For Figure 3B, the authors state that the error was inadvertently introduced during the process of revision when an incorrect image of the PAR1WT/WT heart slice under APC treatment was inserted. The authors have provided a corrected Figure 3B. For Figure 6C, the authors state that the error was inadvertently introduced during the process of revision when an incorrect image of the western blot band for p-AMPK/AMPKα in the right panel of Figure 6C was used. The authors have provided a corrected Figure 6C. The errors in the supplemental uncut blots were introduced when preparing the files for publication and corrected versions have been provided in an updated supplemental file.
