In this paper we report on the utility of portable X-Ray Florescence to distinguish intra-site variability of a large sample (n = 247) of fine grained-volcanic (FGV) artifacts dating from the Allerød/Late Pleistocene to the Late Holocene, recovered at the Little John site (KdVo-6) in the Yukon Territory, Canada. The delineation of proposed geochemical groups is accomplished through exploratory data analysis and principal component analysis. The identification of distinct geochemical groups within the assemblage is used to inform the exploration of intra-site patterning related to the technological organization of FGV use and the temporal distribution of FGV geochemical group materials at the Little John site.
