Osa-miR1871-MFAP1 module coordinates rice yield and immunity against Magnaporthe oryzae. Whereas overexpression of miR1871 (OX1871) or mutation in MFAP1 compromises yield and blast disease resistance, blocking miR1871 (MIM1871) enhances resistance and yield. This module provides potential genes for breeding programs aiming to improve disease resistance and yield. Cover illustration refers to the article in this issue (Li et al., 646-659).
