Laminated fiber composite samples of a hierarchically organized structure with a matrix containing titanium, intermetallic compounds of the titanium–aluminum system, and solid solutions of aluminum in titanium, unidirectionally reinforced with continuous single-crystal sapphire fibers, are obtained by solid-phase diffusion welding. The fibers are obtained by the modified Stepanov method, which facilitated increased strength and an increase in the manufacture productivity. Mechanical testing and the structure of the fracture surfaces of the samples demonstrate the nonbrittle nature of the fracture of the composite containing brittle components.
