A simple pulse shape for an EM pulse propagating through dispersive strong turbulence

The shape of an EM pulse wave propagating through dispersive-strong turbulence shows asymmetry, with an exponentially decaying tail due to different pulse components traversing different paths. An accurate expression for the pulse shape is identified in literature, but is intricate and seldom used. Instead, the model of a Gaussian convolved with an exponential is assumed more often. Here, a relatively simple expression is derived for the average intensity of a narrowband Gaussian pulse propagating through dispersive-strong turbulence, which reduces to familiar results in the absence of dispersion. Comparisons to well known pulse models is carried out. Furthermore, the validity of the proposed model is tested for the application of radiations from pulsars.
