In Reply We appreciate the interest by Roberts et al in our article1 reporting a weak association between quantitative increases in total retinal thickness, a sensitive and objective measure of optic disc edema, and lateral ventricle volume after spaceflight. We found that changes in lateral ventricle volume do not provide strong predictive power for the development of optic disc edema during spaceflight, suggesting additional contributing factors associated with the weightless environment influence the optic nerve head and retina.
