Dr. Mingliang Fang is currently an Assistant Professor at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. Dr. Fang received his Ph.D. degree in Environmental Chemistry and Toxicology from Duke University, United States in 2015, with the supervision of Dr. Heather Stapleton. His PhD work mainly focused on the occurrences and toxicity of emerging flame retardants such as Firemaster® 550 as well as the application of effect-directed analysis in identifying causal compounds in the mixture. Then, he moved to The Scripps Research Institute (TSRI) as a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the field of metabolomics. Currently, his main research is on the development of human exposome methods, and the use of omics techniques to evaluate the toxicity of pollutants or their mixture at environmentally relevant levels. Dr. Fang has published ∼80 papers in the high-tier journals including ES&T (18 publications), Nature Chemical Biology, PNAS, Environmental Health Perspective, and Analytical Chemistry. He also works as Associate Editor of Environmental Pollution (Elsevier) and Editorial Board members on ACS ES&T Water, Environmental Science: Processes & Impacts (RSC), Environment International, Environmental Research, Chemosphere, and Exposome (Oxford). Dr. Guanyong Su is a full professor at Nanjing University of Science and Technology (NJUST). During the years 2004–2013, Dr. Su obtained his B.Sc. and Ph.D. in School of the Environment from Nanjing University. In October 2013, Dr. Su became a Post-Doctoral Fellow in Environment and Climate Change Canada (Ottawa). In December 2016, Dr. Su joined NJUST as a full professor, and led a research laboratory independently with the focus on organic contaminants, that is, flame retardants (FRs), plasticizers, and liquid crystal monomers (LCMs). Dr. Su is interested in establishing analytical or toxicological techniques, which are further applied to solve specific issues in the field of environmental science. Dr. Su has received a number of distinctions and awards including the title of “Overseas High-Level Talent” from China in 2018 and the title of “Innovative and Entrepreneurial Talents” in 2019. We express our gratitude to Dr. Heather M. Stapleton from Duke University for her insightful ideas and suggestions for improving this manuscript. This article references 6 other publications.
