I&EC Research 2021 Excellence in Review Awards
Industrial & Engineering Chemistry Research ( IF 3.8 ) Pub Date : 2021-09-22 , DOI: 10.1021/acs.iecr.1c03281
Phillip E. Savage

As has become our tradition, Industrial& Engineering Chemistry Research announces its annual class of Excellence in Review Award winners during Peer Review Week (September 20–24, 2021). I&EC Research greatly appreciates the roughly 6000 reviewers who, each year, lend their time, experience, and expertise to guide our editors, assist our authors, and advance the effective communication of chemical research. We truly could not remain at the forefront of chemical engineering research, as we have been since 1909, without external referees. This year, we recognize 38 reviewers who have made especially notable contributions to I&EC Research during the last 12 months. These reviewers, identified through analysis of peer review data and selected by our editors, are from 16 different countries on five different continents. This group provided numerous timely reviews that contained the critical assessments and constructive feedback needed by our authors and editors to ensure we publish research articles that best advance their fields. These referees’ contributions and others like them maintain I&EC Research’s status as the world’s largest and most cited general chemical engineering journal, as well as the fastest to publication. Our entire team of editors is delighted to honor and thank these 2021 Excellence in Review Award recipients: Marcio Carvalho, Pontificia Universidade Catolica do Rio de Janeiro, Brazil Minkee Choi, Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology, Korea ***Neal Tai-Shung Chung, National University of Singapore, Singapore Dagmar D’Hooge, Universiteit Ghent, Belgium Tingyue Gu, Ohio University, USA M M Faruque Hasan, Texas A&M University, USA Christoph Held, Technische Universität Dortmund, Germany Susan Henkelis, Sandia National Laboratories, USA Jun Huang, University of Sydney, Australia Iftekhar Karimi, National University of Singapore, Singapore Anton A. Signing off from Peer Review Week 2021, I want to remind our authors and readers about the ACS Reviewer Lab {https://www.acsreviewerlab.org/}, which is a freely available training resource for reviewers at all stages of experience. Designed by ACS Editors, leading scientific researchers, and ACS Publications staff, this course provides real-life guidance on how to navigate tricky ethical situations, identify core criteria for evaluating manuscripts, and write a first-rate review.
