Enhanced CO2 Conversion into Ethanol by Permanently Polarized Hydroxyapatite through C−C Coupling

Polarized hydroxyapatite converts pure CO2(g) into valuable C1, C2 (predominant) and C3 chemical products using moderate reaction conditions. Utilization of optimized reaction parameters increases significantly the selectivity towards ethanol, which becomes 73 % of the reaction products. Mechanisms based on dimerization and trimerization processes have been tentatively proposed to explain the C−C coupling necessary for the formation of C2 and C3 products.
