ABSTRACT

Child abuse is a widely discussed issue that can have a lasting negative imprint on a child’s life. We report a case of castration in an infant of nine months old, perpetrated by the mother, who was a diagnosed with schizophrenia. This case explores a rare form of physical child abuse (PCA) and it also emphasizes on the need of a program in the health-care system to monitor mentally challenged mothers throughout the pregnancy and afterward.
