This review introduces recent advances in photocatalysis in discrete supramolecular fluorescent metallacycles and metallacages. The effects of metallacycles skeletons to overcome aggregation-caused quenching effect and fluorescence-resonance energy transfer for photocatalysis are discussed. The utilization of confined space in metallacages can accelerate the rate of reaction and improve the selectivity for photocatalysis.
