Abstract

Reaction between benzoimidazole-2-thiol and aroyl chlorides with potassium selenocyanate in the presence of catalytic amounts of N-methylimidazole under solvent-free conditions provided a simple and efficient one-pot route for the synthesis of 4-aryl-1-thia-3,4a,9-triazafluorene-2-selones. The solvent free reaction is characterized by mild conditions, short reaction times, easy work-up, and high product yields.
