Fueling the Future with Green Economy: An Integration of its Determinants from Renewable Sources

The study aims to assesses possible solutions for Pakistan's energy scarcity based on a renewable source of green hydrogen generated through wind, solar, biomass, and geothermal energy. For this purpose, four main criteria: economic, commercialization, environmental, and social acceptance, have been assessed by applying Multiple-Criteria Decision Analysis (MCDA) and Fuzzy-analytical hierarchal process. Furthermore, Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) is applied to evaluate hydrogen energy production through available renewable energy sources under the selected criteria. According to the findings of fuzzy-led DEA analysis, wind energy source optimization is best suited to produce hydrogen energy in Pakistan for all four criterions. The DEA-led analysis also considers wind energy as the most efficient source to produce hydrogen energy in Pakistan. In other words, to produce hydrogen energy, the findings revealed best optimal rank 1.00 for wind energy, second highest score 0.97 for biomass, third rank for solar energy with score of 0.75 and geothermal ranked at last position with a score of 0.662. The results spotlight that installation of wind energy projects will help to meet the domestic energy demand and reduce the consumption of fossil fuels to produce energy. This study can help policymakers develop fact-based hydrogen energy projects in their respective areas.
