ThiC rearrangement is one of the most significant and sophisticated processes of pyrimidine biosynthesis, which has triggered the interest of numerous scientists from both chemistry and biology. In this Minireview, we briefly summarize most of the current processes in the elucidation of the chemistry behind this fascinating transformation, including the responsible enzyme and its structural details.
