[Sb(AuMe)4]3− formed in a reaction of (Sn2Sb2)2− with [AuMePPh3] that affords multimetallic clusters for other reactant ratios. A central Sb atom bridges four free-standing {AuMe} units, which is unprecedented for main group metal complexes. Comprehensive DFT investigations explained the stability of the tetrahedral structure relative to a pyramidal one found in related molecules and shed light on the reaction space of said multimetallic species.
