This minireview on low dimensional metal halide hybrids (2D, 1D, 0D) highlights their enabling luminescence properties and the emission mechanism guided by their fascinating electronic structure and dimensionality. This is an attempt to disclose the existing structure-function correlation that allows further rational design, synthesis, and luminescence applications of this new class of hybrid materials, which show novel emergent optoelectronic properties.
