Application of smart transformers in power systems including PV and storage systems under unbalanced and nonlinear load and fault condition

In this paper, a control structure is used that allows the connection of distributed generation sources as well as energy storage to the DC link of smart transformer (ST). This feature makes it possible to continue feeding the loads connected to the ST in emergency situations such as grid faults. The control method used is able to compensate for the imbalance as well as absorb the destructive harmonics of the power grid. This control method and the proposed structure make it possible to compensate for the unbalanced, as well as eliminate the harmonics caused by the side feeders and prevent it from being injected into the network. The performance of the control structure and method used in this paper has been demonstrated by simulating a sample system using Matlab / Simulink software.
