Spectral-Luminescent Properties of Composite Materials Based on Nanoporous High-Silica Glasses Activated with Bismuth and Cerium Ions

Abstract

Composite materials based on matrices of high-silica nanoporous glasses activated with bismuth and cerium ions are synthesized. It is found that the samples, depending on the conditions of their synthesis, exhibit blue-green luminescence (λlum = 416–539 nm at λexc = 357–410 nm) due to the presence of Bi3+ and Ce3+ ions. Characteristic vibrations of CeO2 and α-Bi2O3 are identified in the composite materials by IR spectroscopy.
