Abstract

Non-grain-oriented (NGO) cold rolled steel is widely used in magnetic cores of rotary electric machines such as electric motors and power generators due to the excellent magnetic permeability and low magnetic loss, as well as low magnetic anisotropy, which means uniform magnetic properties in all directions due to the diffuse crystallographic texture of grains. Currently, due to the expansion of the functional application field and the increasing demand for electric motors with large power and small dimensions, there is a need for further development of an economically sound technology for the production of commercial rolled products from high-performance electrical steel with a controlled crystallographic texture. Some aspects, problems, and prospects of progressive practice in the production technology and application of this steel have briefly been discussed in the paper.
