We read with great interest the study by Niezen and colleagues (1) investigating the relationship between alcohol consumption and controlled attenuation parameter (CAP) values in 4509 participants of the NHANES study (2017-2018). Patients were categorized according to the amount and frequency of alcohol consumption per week. Following multivariable linear regression analysis using CAP as a continuous parameter, the authors highlight two findings: Only the group drinking 5 and more drinks 5-7 times per week was associated with significantly higher CAP values.
