It's all about the ratio: A remarkable effect of the ligand to metal ratio in the palladium-catalyzed Tsuji-Trost allylation is revealed here. By changing the amount of chiral bisphosphinite-[6]-helicene ligand in the catalytic system, (R) and (S) isomeric products were selectively obtained. 31P NMR, X-ray and DFT calculations were used to shed light on this reaction.
