An efficient synthesis of norbornadienes (NBDs) was achieved using flow chemistry via a combination of two reactions in one step. In situ cracking of dicyclopentadiene followed by Diels Alder reaction with alkynes in a flow chemistry setup with back-pressure regulator (BPR) make larger quantities of the norbornadienes (NBD)-quadricyclane (QC) photoswitch pair accessible.
