Deactivation: This work reveals the catalytic and deactivation mechanisms of Ag/C catalysts during the synthesis process of vinyl chloride using C2H2 and HCl gas. AgCl generated by the activation by HCl, as the active site, promotes the reaction. And the reasons of deactivation are the loss of Ag and particle aggregation. This perspective offers a suitable insight for the subsequent research on Ag-based catalysts.
