Cell-plastics, in which green algal cells are used as a fundamental resource, have been fabricated which are able to convert CO2 directly into plastics via photosynthesis. In article number 2100026 by Kohei Iritani and co-workers, polyvinyl alcohol-cell-plastics with high water absorption ability are successfully produced. The results open a route to fabricate sustainable and functional cell-plastics for many useful purposes.
