Heat Capacity of Pure Magnesium and Ultralight Congruent Magnesium–Lithium Alloy in the Temperature Range of 300 K to 825 K

Abstract

Measurements of the heat capacity of pure magnesium and ultralight magnesium–lithium alloy with a Li content of 30 at. % were performed by means of differential scanning calorimetry in the temperature range of 300 K to 825 K. The estimated error of the data obtained was 2–3%. The corresponding temperature dependences of the heat capacity were constructed. Peculiarities were revealed in the heat capacity temperature dependence of the Mg70Li30 alloy in the range of 570–700 K. It is shown that up to 750 K, the values of the specific molar heat capacity of the Mg70Li30 alloy are in good agreement with the data for pure magnesium.
